2026 MYGS Spring Softball: 6U and 8U

Spring 2026 Softball for Medford (Massachusetts) Youth Girls Softball

Beginning 2025 fall season, a player's age as of August 31st determines the division in which the player is eligible to play the following year (Fall ’25, Spring ’26, and Summer ’26). Please refer to the USA Softball Code Age Eligibility Chart to determine which age your team/player is eligible to participate. Our registration system will automatically place the player in the correct division.

Format/Structure:

• The focus will be on skills and fun.

• Teams meet 2 times a week

• Typically, teams meet on Sunday afternoons & one weekday evening, which the Coach chooses.

• While we can't guarantee a fit for each girl's schedule, we try to place girls on teams that practice on weeknights they are available. Practices will start as soon as fields are open, typically April 1st.

• 8U will once again participate in the City/Town league, which will play games once/week on Tuesday or Thursday. Games will start the week of April 27th.

• Games are coach-pitched, and are loosely structured.

• 6U and 8U use sponge-core balls, which have approximately the same weight as standard balls but have a little more "give," so as to make them less likely to injure.

Medford Softball welcomes players from surrounding communities when space allows. Please note that placement on a Medford team cannot be guaranteed for new out-of-town players until registration is closed. In accordance with City/Town League guidelines, players are expected to participate in their home community’s program if their town offers one.
